Buddhist monks have recycled over one million used bottles to build their temple in Khun Han, Thailand near the Cambodian border.

There are 20 buildings in the complex, all of which are made of green Heineken, brown Chang beer, various soft drinks, and Thai Red Bull bottles as a testament to recycling locally found objects. The creatively designed buildings have a concrete core to strengthen them.

The buildings comprise the main temple over a lake, crematorium, prayer rooms, a hall, water tower, tourist bathrooms and several small bungalows raised off the ground which serve as monks quarters. Even the walls surrounding the temple are made from bottles. Details and patterns in the walls are made from used bottle tops cut into different sizes.
